GolfBusters visits FlightScope at the 2025 PGA Show

At the 2025 PGA Show, Jock Buffton from GolfBusters took a closer look at FlightScope’s latest releases, including the FlightScope X3C Launch Monitor and the FlightScope i4 Rangefinder.

Daniel Fitzpatrick. Reseller and Affiliate Account Manager at FlightScope, walked through the impressive upgrades and new features, while Buffton highlighted why these products are must-haves for golfers, coaches, and simulator enthusiasts alike.

X3C: The World’s First Carbon Fiber Launch Monitor

The X3C, which features a carbon fiber shell built using aerospace grade materials and a new quad-core 64-bit processor, the fastest ever in a FlightScope launch monitor, brings the same trusted data from the X3 but in a lighter, and more portable design.

The X3C offers effortless setup, whether it’s on the range, the golf course or in a simulator setup thanks to its self-leveling feet, ease of use kickstand and hydraulic back leg. The unit automatically adjusts to its surroundings, ensuring the perfect setup every time “You literally just set this down, and you’re good to go,” said Fitzpatrick.

Buffton also emphasized the versatility of the X3C, noting that many golfers assume it's only for outdoor use. “This is totally compatible with GS Pro and other simulator software,” he said. “If you want the top-of-the-line FlightScope experience, this is the one.”

A major cost advantage of the X3C? No subscription fees. Unlike some competitors that charge upwards of $1,000 per year in software fees, FlightScope’s one-time purchase model ensures long-term value. “Once you buy it, that’s it – you’re good to go,” Fitzpatrick confirmed.

The FlightScope i4 Laser Rangefinder: A Smart AI Caddy in Your Pocket

One of FlightScope’s most exciting releases is the i4 Laser Rangefinder, which is more than just a rangefinder – it’s a revolutionary, intelligent golfing companion. By combining cutting-edge AI, real-time environmental integration, and advanced ballistic calculations, the FlightScope i4 elevates precision and strategy to a new standard for both professional and amateur golfers.

At the core of the i4’s precision is its groundbreaking Effective Distance calculation. Unlike traditional rangefinders that provide simple yardage measurements, the i4 adjusts distances dynamically based on various critical factors, including:

  • Home Location Reference: Ensures familiarity and consistency by calculating Effective Distance relative to the golfer’s home playing conditions.

  • Local Environmental Factors: Accounts for altitude, air density, kinematic viscosity, and target elevation to provide accurate distance measurements.

  • Ballistic Calculations: Considers the golfer’s unique launch conditions – such as ball speed, spin, and launch angle – for every club, ensuring precise distance calculations.

Buffton was very impressed with the i4, stating – “Guys, I know what you're thinking. You've seen a million rangefinders, but from talking to Daniel, this does a couple of things that no other rangefinders do. And I know personally, this is the one I'm going to be using.”

Using Bluetooth connectivity, the i4 syncs with the FS Golf app, automatically updating temperature, altitude, and wind speed from local weather stations.

“If I’m playing in Michigan at 40 degrees, my ball flight won’t be the same as when I play in 70 degree Florida,” Buffton explained. “This adjusts yardages automatically so you get the most accurate club recommendation possible.”

“It’s like having a virtual caddy that evolves throughout the round,” Fitzpatrick added.
